Curious Threads Counseling, based in New Orleans, is a therapy practice founded by Britt, a dedicated therapist specializing in working with individuals recovering from addiction. She envisioned a website that captured the artistic soul of New Orleans—gritty, imperfect, yet full of color and life. More than just a digital presence, the site needed to feel safe, welcoming, and deeply human.

Brand Concept & Visual Identity

At the heart of the brand is the concept of "threads"—a metaphor for healing, resilience, and the interwoven nature of personal growth. I collaborated with Britt to develop this idea into a full-fledged brand identity, crafting a logo featuring a continuous line drawing that forms a brain, symbolizing mental healing through interconnected threads.

The visual style is intentionally raw and analog, moving away from the sterile aesthetics often seen in mental health websites. Images were skewed and slightly distorted, embracing the beauty in imperfection. This subtle visual chaos reflects the unpredictable nature of healing while reinforcing the site’s creative, artistic appeal.

Website Design & User Experience

I built the website using Webflow, which offered the design flexibility necessary to bring this unique vision to life while also providing a powerful CMS for blog management. The site was designed to:

• Feel Safe & Approachable: Warm tones, layered textures, and human-centric imagery create a comforting space for visitors.

• Evoke New Orleans’ Artistic Spirit: The design leans into an organic, handmade aesthetic, aligning with the city’s creative energy.
• Engage Through Motion: The website’s standout feature is a Lottie animation that unravels frame by frame as users scroll—a dynamic visual metaphor for the therapeutic journey. Many of Britt’s clients have mentioned how immersive and "cool" the site feels during their initial sessions.

SEO & Content Strategy

Beyond design, we focused on ensuring the site reached the right audience. After discussions with Britt, I developed an SEO strategy centered around AI-assisted content creation. Using Webflow’s CMS, we streamlined blog publishing, integrating ChatGPT and Midjourney to generate thoughtful, high-quality blog posts that touched at the keywords people were searching around mental health questions. By consistently producing two AI-enhanced blogs per week, Curious Threads Counseling saw an increase in organic search traffic within weeks.

To maintain authenticity, I continue coaching Britt on AI-assisted content creation, ensuring each post retains her voice and resonates with her audience.
